Teachers need teaching too

I’ve been lucky lately to support some brilliant teachers in their own practice. At The Hale Pilates Studio (where I teach one day a week) I’ve been working with Kana who is currently visiting from Tokyo where she runs Sky Pilates. In my home studio in Monton I teach Rachael who runs Pilates Levenshulme as well as performing as an insanely talented professional Belly Dancer.

Both Kana and Rachael have incredible body awareness and practice regularly, but there’s nothing quite like having new eyes and a fresh perspective on your movement.

Teachers; I know all too well how impossible it can feel to fit these sessions in, but they are so important. Finding time to check in with our own bodies and give ourselves the nourishing movement experiences we give others, keeps our teaching authentic and sustainable against burnout. I also love the shorthand and shared passion that comes with teaching teachers, so if you’re a movement professional needing to fill your own cup, get in touch.
